Organization Transformation
A research organization was losing funding and staff and needed to shift its strategy and structure in order to regain relevance and continue its mission.

What we did
Build Alignment
We facilitated - often difficult - conversations with leaders and managers to align on what they saw as necessary to change or not, and the costs of change or holding to the status quo.
Design the Change
We worked with a cross-functional team to design the changes (including restructuring, service offerings, and HR processes) and to build working groups to implement them.
Guide the Work Groups
Provided guidance to the work groups and convened them to ensure they were working in alignment, coordinating as needed, and addressing challenges as they arose.
Assess and Adapt
Assess the effectiveness of changes throughout the project and conduct follow-up check-ins with leadership to evaluate the overall organizational im over time.
-
The organization was more nimble and able to adapt to client and funder needs in about twice as quickly as before.
-
New internal structures led to new partnerships, increased cross-functional sharing, and the launch of new initiatives for their clients.
-
Managers and staff felt more hopeful with the new career pathways aligned to functional areas.
